Local Schoolgirl wins a £1,000's worth of computer equipment for her school

Derby Pride recently ran a competition inviting children at all Infant and Junior Schools in the City Challenge area to design a poster to help publicise Derby PRIDE's annual "Picnic in the Park" summer festival.
The competition was won by 10 year old Afsheen Akhtar Hussain, a pupil at Arboretum Primary School in Corden Street. Afsheen has won for her school up to a £1,000's worth of computer equipment which Derby PRIDE will buy for the school. Afsheen also won for herself a £15.00 WH Smiths gift voucher. Afsheen's colourful picture will now be used on all the posters for the Picnic in the Park event. Her design will also be printed onto T-shirts which will be worn by staff and on sale on the day.

Mrs Mo Wilson, Head Teacher at Arboretum Primary School comments, "Obviously we are delighted that we have won. We are now researching the type of computer equipment we will buy with the prize money. This will probably be upgrades and new software that the children can use on a daily basis".
