DERBY PRIDE ENABLING FUNDS

Do you have an idea for a community project or event that will benefit local people?

For our final year of operation (1997/8) Derby PRIDE City Challenge is inviting bids from local people for community based projects that will benefit residents living in the five, key City Challenge areas; Wilmorton, Normanton, Peartree, Osmaston and the Station area.

During the final year, over a million pounds has been made available for community projects as a part of the Enabling Funds programme. Application for projects are expected to cover three main areas-

  • Strategic Objective 1 : Economic Development.
To support the creation of employment opportunities through business development, job creation and training. This incorporates the previous funds relating to Education, Childcare, Community Training, Economic Development and Voluntary Sector Development.
  • Strategic Objective 2 : Social Development.
To support independent living with better housing, greater safety and improved health services. This incorporates the previous funds relating to Youth, Elderly, Health and Wellbeing and Safety and Security.
  • Strategic Objective 3 :Quality of Life.
To improve the quality of life of local people. This incorporates the previous funds relating to the Environment, Community Arts, Sport and Recreation, and Community Activities.

Our aim is to enrich the life of local residents by providing an opportunity for everyone to participate in, and share the benefits of the City Challenge programme. Projects which are innovative, which initiate a new activity, stimulate participation and acknowledge the cultural and social make up of the community are particularly encouraged.
