![]() (M144) Dust pressed, 6 x 6 in, printed under glaze, stamped on reverse "Royal Jubilee 1887 Rd No 36923", unmarked barred back, design registered to New Wharf Pottery Co (William Wood & Sons), 1886/7. A large number of these tiles were discovered, unused, when the New Wharf factory was demolished (c.1990). It seems possible that the tiles were never "issued" at the time, perhaps because the picture was not very flattering! |
