(M198) A handsome fireplace with a tiled cast-iron insert. The fire surround is marble finished slate with marble shelf brackets and gilded detail. The insert is cast-iron with 30 inch tile cheeks either side, each cheek holding 2 x 3 in spacer tiles, 2 x 6 in quartered tiles and 2 x 12 in panels pictured right. Tiles are dust pressed, the two panels are transfer printed and hand coloured, Decorative Art Tile Co., c. 1890.
