All dust pressed, 6 x 6 in, transfer printed,
all but M263 hand decorated under glaze, all but M263 have the same
reverse (M263 similar reverse but no moulded letters), moulded mark
D.T.B, Doulton Tiles Burslem, c.1880s. Doulton bought a major share in Pinder, Bourne & Co, Nile Street, Burslem in 1877 and by 1882 owned the company outright. PB & Co had a history of basic tile making and Doulton continued their output producing tiles for the mass market. Most of the designs were licensed from other firms so the designs may be found on other blanks. | |||
