Subject: Strange goings on.
Athough not actualy in Derby itself, I thought you might be interested in an occourence that happened to me in October of 1997.
I was returning home to Clay Cross from Matlock Bath on the 29Th of October having just closed the sale of my business in that town. It was the last night of the annual firework display and I was riding my motorcycle home in the dark back via Tansley.
The bike was running fine through the back roads when on the aproach to Ogston the light dimmed to a point where I could hardley see the road. What was really odd was that the light seemed to be as bright as normal, it just was'nt lighting up the road.
I got off the bike and adjusted the headlights angle, thinking it must have dropped down, it had not. At this point I got a very strong feeling of being watched and didn't like it at all. I was back on that bike like a shot and accelerated away.
After only a few feet the handlebars seemed to become locked in one position sending me towards the hedge, it was like being caught in tram lines and it was only with some effort I regained control of the machine. Once again I stopped, this time to check that no cables had become trapped when I had moved the headlight, nothing was caught up and I rode home as fast as the bloody thing would go.
Later I learned that the Ashover Light Railway had once crossed the road I had travelled at several points, and athough no track remains I have a strong feeling that they did that night. Although I have checked I can find no reason that can explain what I experienced that night.
Even now I still dislike riding that road in the dark.

Subject: My Grandfather
This is a story of my grandfather and all the appearances that have been seen since his death in 1963. My grand parents lived in the same home for many years, not far from our own. There were a few rooms that had been converted from the attic where my aunt and uncle lived with their children. Rumor has it that Grandpa did not like my uncle very much or that he just liked to annoy him. I op for the the latter, Grandpa couldn't hate anyone.
Well Grandpa always sat in the same chair in the parlor and he would read his paper by the light of a floor lamp directly behind the chair. no-one ever sat in that chair, we new better.
After Grandpa passed away we had a family gathering and someone sat in the chair. No sooner than they lowered themselves into the chair the lamp started flickering...Needless to say they sprung from the chair and the light turned off. We never sat in the chair again. But whenever the entire family would gather the light would flicker three times and then stop. the first time it happened everyone thought it was a short in the wiring and the lamp was taken to a repair shop where the repairman said everything was fine. After the second time we just all laughed and said hi to grandpa this happened every time we would gather. This however was not the only signs that we received, Grandpa also had his chair in the kitchen where he would have his morning coffee at the head of the table. Again this was known to be his chair.
The day of the funeral for my grandfather we were all at the house prior to going to the Funeral parlor to pay our last respects. My uncle sat down not thinking about it in Grandpas chair for his coffee. the minute he sat in the chair the cabinet door behind the chair flew open and banged the chair...not once but several times very quickly as if to say get out of that seat mister, its still mine.
Several years later my grandmother and my Aunts family moved out of the old home and into another and that was the last time anyone had any visits from Grandpa until....
Many years later I was now married and had moved with my husband and our two children to a new home. I had decided that when my daughter turned 2 I would start to break her of diapers and potty train her. The day after her 2nd birthday I went out to the garage and climbed the loft where I kept things stored for future use. I was searching out the small Potty chair in hopes of starting her that day.
I had not told anyone I was going to the garage because it was only to take me a few minutes and I would return shortly. While I was up in the loft I had taken one step backward and had run out of floor space and fell to the cement floor below, landing between to parked cars. I could hear people moving about but couldn't alert them, I couldn't speak. My husband had come out to the garage and called for me but I couldn't answer him. He turned out the light and closed the door leaving me in total darkness. He finally came back some minutes later still looking for me and had thought it strange that when he had gone to the garage earlier the garage light was on, and decided to check again. This time I managed to moan and alert him. He opened the large overhead doors and returned to the house to call the paramedics.
While he was in the house a man came into the garage and called my name and said everything was going to be okay. At first I wasn't sure who this person was because he was very faint to me. Then my husband returned and the man told him I would be ok and that help would be here soon. My husband said the man was dressed in dark blue work clothes, and that he said he heard the call over the car radio and that he was with our local fire department.
I was taken to the hospital and kept over night for observation and was released the next day. On the way home from the hospital I asked if we could stop by the fire house to say thank you to the men who had helped me, and especially the man that came first just to comfort me. When we got there I met the men who were on the call and thanked them and asked if the other gentleman was there. They asked what he looked like and I tried to explain and said it was very faint to me but that my husband could give a better description. They said they didn't have anyone by that description working there. My husband told them what the man said about getting the call over the car radio. They said they hadn't yet installed that into the cars of the off duty men. and that it was not on a frequency to the public yet.
A few weeks later we went to my sisters house and had decided to watch some old movies of us as children. When all of a sudden my husband grabbed my arm and went as white as a sheet. I asked what was wrong and he said "who is that man on the sofa with you"? I said that it was my grandfather why? he said that was the man that was here the day I fell from the loft.
Since then I have has several visits from my grandfather, always when things were extremely urgent and I needed guidance or support and reassurance.
I believe he is my Guardian angel.

The night my grandmother died me and my twin sister both had the same nightmare that our most beloved grandmother died. Thinking it was just a unexplainable and strange occurance we went down stairs to get ready for school.
When we were walking down stairs we knew somthing was wrong , we could just feel it. Then my father took us into my living room and said "Your grandmother passed away last night"
All I can remember was my eyes widening to the size of base balls and saying you kiding right? But then it occured to me whet had happend and I begain to break down in tears.
Why did it happen? And could I have perventedit buy calling her to make sure she was ok when I woke up in a cold sweat form that blood curdeling nightmare? I thought to my self. Then when I looked out my window I sware I seen her face smiling back at me when suddenly I smelled roses and a warm breeze. The kind you would feel steeping onto a beach for a first time.
Thats when I knew it was going to be ok. I'll see her again. Ever since that day I have been able to perdick what is going to happen to me.
Thats how I know we will meet again in a far better place.

Subject: Is this possible?
Hello, I am writng on behalf of my friends and I to find out some things that are very unexplained to us. On Hallowe'en night of 1998 two of my friends had started to see ghosts come into the room. Both of them had seen this before and by now weren't that scared.
There were several ocassions where we were all together and either heard sounds, different temperatures in the room, bright colours in the room or slow moving colours around us. As I was saying, my two friends saw these outlines then more started to come more vivid and real. One sat on the bed in front of us and we could hear deep breathing talking and music playing. We know they weren't faking because they would both gasp at the exact same time.
My friend's dad told us that some of the former inhabitants were a man and his son and they were killed in a car accident. The room that belonged to the boy my friend will not go near and ever since she was little she was afraid of it. As the night went on one was in front of my friend and she put her hand through it and there was a glowing trail following after it and they both saw that there was a boy sitting on the gun rack and we had all put our hands where it was and it was ice cold. At one point we had to turn on the light because my friend could only see blood in her eyes. And ever since after my friend sat there she was acting VERY strange and was really scaring me.
I've known her for a long time and she never did and acted the way she did then. She said she could see the boy or man screaming and laughing and she started to cry because she was scared he was going to say something. and another one of my friends eyes were like mirrors and the pupils were huge and the colour had changed and was sunken back in her eyes.
All of this is true if you need any information about events before then please contact me at vibe007@hotmail.com. This is VERY urgent and we really need your help please help us we don't know what to do.
Sincerly,
Denise Mahon
P.S. help us as soon as you can PLEASE!!

I have an unusual ghost story. It took place at Fort George, in Canada. The fort was involved in the War of 1812 and maybe the Revolutionary War (I am not sure) and several Indian conflicts, so it has a long and rather blood filled history.
The fort had been abandoned for some time and fell into ruin, and was rebuilt as a historical landmark in the early part of the twentieth century. When they rebuilt the fort, however, they did not know the original plans of it, but rather reconstructed it based on similar old forts. And here is where my story comes in.
The fort is surrounded by a wall with earthworks beneath it, and when it was reconstructed, a tunnel leading up to a tall observation tower atop the wall was created. In reality, this part of the fort was a cemetery for those killed during battle in which there was no time for formal burial.
I was on a ghost tour, a lantern-lit tour of the fort after dark with my mother and a friend and a whole group of other tourists led by a guide. When we were led by the guide into the tunnel under the earthworks, we had to walk single file. My friend was behind me, my mother in front. It was not too dark in the tunnel, as the guides had bright lanterns, and I was guiding myself through it by following the sight of my mother's back. When I got about halfway through the tunnel, everything went black.
It was as if I was in the midst of a black haze, too dense for me to see my mother, who was only about 10 feet in front of me. Accompanying this haze was the smell of wet wool (like a uniform or a sweater) and the feeling as if there was a tall man on either side of me. I stood there for a minute, hoping that my friend would bump into me and dispel the weird feeling. She didn't.
After a few seconds, I started walking again and in a second passed out of the mist. when I looked behind me, I couldn't see my friend at all (she was only about 10 feet behind me). I later asked mother if she had felt anything weird in the tunnel and she described the same sensation I had. My friend felt nothing. We asked the tour guide if anyone had ever felt anything in the tunnel on a previous tour, and she described a similar occurance.
All of the people who have felt it have been women who believe in ghosts and have had some experience with them before (my mother and I had because there is one which hangs around our house!:-) Furthermore, the ghost of a little girl who died at the fort (a soldier's daughter) is often seen following the tour about the compound, and when they enter the tunnel, she stays outside.

Subject: Oujia Boards
I'm not sure if this story is true or not because my friend told me about it.
She said that her mother was playing with a Oujia board and suddenly everything went wrong. Glass plates and vases went flying across the room and then they saw a figure in the mirror over a stove. I don't really like Oujia boards because I am a Christian and I don't believe in it. Besides, when you're using one with friends you have no clue if you're friends are moving it even though deny it.
Well, that's all.

Subject: The Piper Ghost of Fort Fredric in Kingston
Hello, my name is Joe Daniels. I am 13 years old and I live in Ajax Ontario Canada.
My Ghost Encounter was while I was attending my Sea Cadet camp at the Royal Military College in Kingston at the mouth of the St. Laurence. While at the graduation of a group of cadets, Bag Pipes began sounding from the fort at the point, Fort Fredric, an old Marcello Tower.
This probably doesn't seem strange to you as it was a graduation. But that day I was told the story of the Piper. Before the tower was built, during the war of 1812. It appears that a piper was killed by a cannon ball in mid song.
His ghost is said to walk along the original path, now buried in about 3 feet of earth. So when the ghost is seen, not often, he looks like a transparent piper walking waist deep in the ground.
I know you're rolling your eyes and saying " The piper and pipes heard from the fort where just a joke to scare you." Well, I can prove you wrong because 3 Unsolved Mysteries have been filmed at the Royal Military College, one of which, was about my piper.

Subject: Interesting tale

There is a historic village in Calgary, Alberta and one of the homes there is known to inhabit a ghost. She has been seen on various occasions in the attic of a 3 storey house standing by the window.

Last winter a friend and I went there for brunch and we wandered through the park and came up to this house. I was peaking through the windows when I felt a rope around my neck and I felt like I was being strangled. There wasn't anything there at all. The next thing I knew a woman was present and she told me of her story. She was a servant in the house and the master was having an affair with her and she became pregnant. In 1880 it was not the thing to do. Her mistress and their daughter were very cruel to this woman. As well, her own mother disowned her and I guess all that she felt she could do was to kill herself. She was found hanging in the sewing room, and her spirit has been present ever since.

The interesting part of this tale is in my presence, the woman's mother came to her to ask for forgiveness. There was a joyful reunion and much love. Next came the master and his family and they begged for her forgiveness as well. The moral of this story I guess is that unfinished business on earth, carries into the next life as well.

I left the park sort of feeling very strangely and went home. Throughout the night I felt like a storm was raging inside of my head. Around 2:30 a.m., I saw the woman once again and she thanked me for releasing her and she went off. The interesting part is that she was carrying a baby - the child she was carrying when she died.

This is not my first experience with ghosts, although it is my first experience communicating with many of them! I had a ghost follow me from home to home always causing disruption with the electrical outlets. I used to spend a fortune on light bulbs! As well as having things go bump in the night and channels changing on the television set in the middle of a movie, when there was nothing wrong with the TV. Although I never saw the spirit of the electrical system (my pet name for it), I knew within days after moving that it had joined me in the new domecile.

My experiences with the spirit world go back to 1958, after my father died, my mother bought a house that was known to be haunted. Funny though, that house had the happiest atmosphere and I felt incredibly safe there. That is, until my mother remarried an alcoholic 5 years later, and he had 4 very disturbed children. The house's atmosphere changed overnight and it became very chilly - with foosteps wandering through the house at night and no one was there. Taps turned on and off at will, as well as lights. What finally cinched it for my mother, who thought all of this was foolishness, was venetian blinds would go up and down at will right in front of her! We moved right away!

Another one I experienced in 1970 where I was woken up around midnight by an Indian girl whose entire tribe had been murdered on that site over a hundred years ago. She requested an Indian ceremony so that their spirits wouldn't spend eternity walking on the earth. She told of the army coming across the Indian settlement and everyone was slaughtered, including the children. It was relived with much anxiety and fear, but her main mission was to communicate what had happened so a religious ceremony could take place. Although I felt no fear about talking to someone who had died a century before, it seemed somewhat normal. In the morning, I told my mother what had happened, and she said that explains the 2 voices she heard throughout the night. So I knew then that I wasn't imagining or dreaming the event. Although my thoughts at that time was who in the hell is going to believe this one! So I did nothing about contacting the native council, although through the years thoughts about her went thorugh my mind. Then in 1993 my daughter had some friends who were native and one was a member of the native council, so I told her about my experience and she brought it forth to the elders. My duty had been completed. I have no way of knowing whether they did anything about it, however, the Natives here are very spiritual and believe strongly in these things, so possibly they did do something.

I believe that I must be a magnet to the spirit world - why else would I personally experience so many different ones. I don't think it is odd to be approached by one, although sometimes it takes you by surprise and scares the daylights out of you!
