Subject: Looking for answers!
I do not live in England I live in Canada.
My husband and I recently
bought a country store and strange things have happened here. I dont
know how to explain it. We know the last owner died but the stories of
how it happened vary. Nothing happens when my husband is here only when
I am here. I will be sitting in my office and I can see someone walk by
the doorway to my office but no-one has come in the store. We have a bell
that alerts us if someone comes in.
Also occasionaly I will hear the tap
in the kitchen dripping until it almost drives me crazy but, as I go to
the kitchen to investigate it quits just as I walk through the door. I
don't feel uncomfortable here, I just feel like I'm sharing my space
with someone else.
How can I learn more about what I am going through
and how to find out what is really going on here? Could I be imagining
all of it? I don't think I'm crazy but some of the things that happen I
just cannot explain.

in Littleover where she witnessed a bright light
like a torch coming straight towards her at a fast
speed, the light then vanished upon reaching her.
This happened just near Hells Woods, where many strange
occurancies have been reported.
Can you help with this?

Subject: room in house
hi!,
There is a room in my house that is always cooler than the rest of the
house. We can't get it warm.
Subject: My aunts house
My aunt moved into a house about 5 months ago. Her and her husband have been
seeing a black shadow in the house, mostly in the basement at the foot of the
stairs.
One time while my aunt was folding the laundry it like came out of
the ceiling and pulled her hair straight up and her husband saw it. Their
cats are always going Crazy. A few times they heard what sounded like a person
running down the stairs in the middle of the night.
My aunt's 7 year old son
is scared of the way his upstairs room feels. Her daughter is only 3 and
doesn't even know what a ghost is but always wakes up at night saying that a
"witch thing" is flicking her ear and waking her up.
It got to a point where
she would scream and say that there was a witch in the corner of her room. She
would point to it and say what it looked like. All she said that it looked
like is that it was scarey and dark. Often times she smells a unique womans
perfume smell in the basement, but it only lasts for 2 or maybe 3 seconds.

Subject: Haunting of Tudor Hall
This experience happen to my mother in law and myself on a day outing at
Tudor hall, We were having and really historic day with excellent guides,
which were very informative, when the tour was over my mother in law asked
me "if I had notice the really pretty lady dressed in 1600 authentice
costume'
I ask if she spoke to her, She replied 'yes' but received no reply. we
asked the tour gide why she was so friendly and the person in costume was
quite rude, the tour guide said there was no one in type of costumer we had
mentioned. Its funny myself, my mother in law and 2 other people had seen
this person and no one else on the tour even though there must have been 30
people in the tour.
What is more odd, my mother in law dreamt about this person and she told my
mother in law to be careful about walking in snow because she would have a
bad fall, which my mother in law did and had to have surgury on her knee.
This spirit has contacted my mother in law twice since then saying she must
see someone about her blood, which at the time did not make sence but went
to the doctor and was told she had high blood pressure.
I am very grateful
for this spirit as she is taking care of the most special person in my
life. the spirit also told my mother in law she would live until she is 96
years old she is now 87 and still going strong. The spirti we saw was in
the great hall in Tudor Hall.
Subject: Aussie Ghosts
My name is Marina and i live on the
Central coast Nsw Australia. Here's my weird happenings.
I think i am followed by 2 ghosts. normaly i see a man's figure lurking
in corners of the room that i'm in. whenever i'm alone i hear my name
being called.
Every night at 11:45 the sound of horses hooves come down
the drive way and past my window. my bed always feels like it's just
been slept in when i get into it. Three times i have felt like someone
was holding my left foot.
I have heard from my parents that 2 old people
lived in the house before us. Could it be them who are haunting me? I
have tried to contact the sprits but nothing ever happens.
could it be the ghost of my grandfather? i have never met him,
(he died in 1947) but for a few days around his death i feel a deep sadness.
Could you tell me how to get in contact with these restless spirits?

Subject: Lincoln ghosts
Good to read your info on ghosts in Derby; we live in Lincoln, so it's
interesting to hear about things goings on nearby. Thought you might
like to hear about my experience;
My husband's best friend hung himself
in 1994, and after this my husband went to work abroad. About a month
after Steve (my husband) had been abroad,
I came through into the lounge
to see Adie (the dead friend) sitting on the sofa as large as life,
as if nothing had happened.
He told me everything was ok, and that he was
having the time of his life! I went back to bed, and woke up in the
morning, thinking that I has dreamt it.
After this, I have seen Adie so
many times that it's impossible to put it down to dreams etc. I think
that it's good that my husbands best friend is keeping an eye on me
whilst he's working away.
Subject: houseguests
I don't really know where to begin. I am a 15 yr. old female. I have an older
brother who is 18 and a younger sisiter is 13. My brother used to live with
us. He was like so phsycho that he had to leave. I really don't get along with
my mother are my sister. Anyways, I am just letting you know this because
maybe this could be the work of a poltergeist. I don't know. Anywho, here
goes.
In the living room, there are pictures set up all over the t.v. and coffee
tables of my family. My picture sits off to the side, alone, out of eyesight.
Well, for no reason, my picture will fall down. I will put it back up just to
have it fall back down again. That is one thing that irks me.
Another thing
is, my room. It is the farthest away from the other kids rooms. I am right
across the hall from my parents room. Well, every now and then, there will
be a smell. I can't describe it. I know my house is like, really old and stuff,
but come on! It is almost a decaying smell. I look all around for some food
or something and find nothing.
Another thing is my clothes. My closet is
color organized. I know what I have in my closet and where it is at. A few
months ago I got back laundry and hung up my clothes. Inside this bundle
of laundry was my favorite blue flannel. I hung it up in the blue section.
The next morning I go to get it out of my closet. It is gone! I looked all over
for it! I even looked in my sisters room. It was not there.
My brother was
not living with us at the time so it could not have been him. Well, I blamed
my sister for it. I complained to my dad and everything. A month later, my
brand new, never before been worn black vest vanished! I looked all over
for this, blamed my sister and everything just like before. The next
morning, I wake up to find my blue flannel on the floor in my closet. I got
the total wiggins. And one time, I had got a new pack of my favorite gum. I
put it down on my desk and left the room. I came back and it was gone. I
was so irked! I blamed my sister once again. Then I went back upstairs and
stood in the center of my room. I closed my eyes and saw my gum. I saw
where it was at! It was in a purse beside my bed! I could not believe it.
Then, a few weeks ago, I was writing to someone on the computer about
things that were happening. The window right in back of me started to
rattle. It was like someone was trying to break in! I ran upstairs to my mom,
she came downstairs and looked out the window. There was no footprints
in the snow that surrounded our house.
Three days ago I was talking about
stuff that was going on again, the next morning my moms fav.. porcelain
plate had fallen off of the wall and shattered into tiny pieces. I don't know
if this stuff is just kuwinky - dinks, or actual "house guests". Please, help
me.

Subject: a haunted house in California, USA
I have a story to tell you that still to this day sends chills up my spine
to think about it!
I live in Alameda, California. For those of you that are not familiar with
this area, here is a little history.
Alameda is an Island just south of San Francisco. The island itself is very
well known for having more Victorian Houses in one spot than any other town
in the USA. All of the Victorian houses on the island are over 100 years
old.
My best friend and I found a gentleman who had a Victorian house that was
120 years old. It was a charming house with all the original Brass fixtures
and hard wood floors.
He stated that he was trying to sell the house and that it was not selling
so he wanted to rent the house until it sold. My friend and I decided that
we would move in since he made us an incredible price on the rent.
One week after we moved in we noticed that strange things were starting to
take place.
In the formal dining room there was a fireplace. on top of the mantle we
had 2 candle sticks that we often lit at night. one evening while we were
entertaining a dinner party, there was a rush of cold wind through the
dining room that extinguished the candlesticks. thinking that it was just a
draft, I got up and relit the candles. This time, there appeared in the
wall a shadow of what appeared to be a an adult figure that went from one
side of the fireplace to the other blowing out the candles!
Needless to say that my guests were a little upset and left.
Another occurance happened late one night. I usually worked graveyad shift
on my job and would often come home at 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning. on one
particular night I came home early. I went upstairs and got undressed and
was just starting to get into bed when there was a very loud pounding on
the front door. I ran to see what it was and my roommate yelled "don't come
out of your room!" I ran down stairs and opened the door to 4 Police
officers that stated that the neighbor had called them because she had
seen in the downstairs window a figure of a rather large man. she knew that
my roommate was alone in the house called her to tell her to stay in her
room and that she was calling the police.
The police looked through the entire house and found nothing. All the doors
and windows were locked tight.
The next morning when I awoke I spoke to my roommate that stated 5 minutes
before the neighbor called her, she heard someone in heavy boots walking
around downstairs on the hardwood floors, then the neighbor stated that
she had noticed that I was coming home early and about to enter the house
thats when she looked towards the parlor widow and there she say the
figure standing there.
among other things we experienced were doors slamming, water running
through the pipes (when no one was using anything) some one calling our
names and someone whistling. upon asking the man if he knew anything about
the history of the house his reply was "why do you think the house is
haunted?"

Subject: ancient chinese secret!?!?!?

A few years ago I was staying with my best friend and her boy friend in Beverly Hills, California. My friend and her boyfriend lived with his grandmother who did not speak a word of english (only chinese) All day long she would sit and fold these little stars and shapes out of silver & gold paper, at night she would go into her room and close the door and talk to herself. My best friend Sharon and I just thought that maybe she was a little nutty. When we asked Bruce (my friends Boy friend) what she was saying (because all day long while she was folding these shapes she would talk to us and we had no clue what she was saying.)
He stated that she was folding gold and silver to take with her to the after life ( an ancient chinese custom) and that her Husband would come and visit her at night and she would discuss the days events with him. (he had been dead for 10 years) Sharon and I thought that this old woman had lost her mind until strange things had started happening........
Bruce would work late hours at work and sharon and I would go out to clubs
and go dancing. I slept in the living room on the couch. next to me was
this old rocker that bruce's gandfather was known to often sit in and
listen to the old chinese music on the radio. One night after coming home
from a club (it must have been about 3:30 or so, I had just started to lay
down on the couch when the rocker began to rock all by itself. I thought to
myself " well, you have had a few drinks and maybe you hit the rocker on
the way to the couch without realizing it!?" none the less it still freaked
me out. I went into my friends room and asked her if it was ok to sleep
with her tonight. she said " boy that old woman must have really freaked
you out, huh?" I laid down and began to fall asleep.
All of a sudden, I felt
someone wiggle my little toe and as I opened my eyes, I saw a woman dressed
in victorian clothing with a big hat standing there smiling at me. as I
blinked my eyes she slowly faded away. I thought that maybe I was half
asleep and dismissed it as just a dream. I was asleep for what seemed to be
a moment and sharon woke me up in a panic! she stated, " Oh, My god listen
to this, I was asleep minding my own business when I opened my eyes and
there was Bruce's grandfather and he looked at me and said" do you know
what time it is, its 4:00 in the morning and you came home too late. Bruce
is not going to be happy! This is no way for a proper young woman to act!"
then I sat up and looked at the clock at it was exactly 4:00! and I can't
sleep now!" Then she started to shake.
hearing her say this made my blood run cold and we spent the rest of the
night awake too scared to sleep.
the next morning when Bruce came home from work, we told him what had
happened and he told us that we were imagining things. we all proceeded to
go into the kitchen to get some breakfast. there in the kitchen sat the old
chinese grandma folding her paper. when we walked in she looked at us and
said something in chinese that made bruce's face turn very pale. She stated
" Bruces Grandfather had come to visit her again last night and she stated
to him that we were out to late for young ladies and he told her "Don't
worry I gave Sharon a good talking to!" she then proceeded to say that his
great grandmother was also here last night and went to make sure that we
were alseep and not up to mischief! We never told her what had happened to
us that night and there was no way she could have know what had happened
because even if we spoke real loud she did not speak a word of english so
she would not understand what had happened. but after that we never came
home late and never thought she was crazy again!
Subject: Priory haunting?
I am enquiring about the priory in St Osyth just outside of
Clacton on Sea (I believe I
have spelled it right).
When I was a youngster about 1947 my cousin a friend and I
were there in the gardens by the pond watching three Monks
doing the gardening we thought nothing of this untill years
later about 1993 we went back there, my cousin was also with me.
Out of curiosity we asked the elderly lady who worked
there where the monks are. Her words were there have never been
any there and she would know if there had been she had been there
since it was a hospital in the 1940 s.
We said no more to her and left but we have always been curious.
I have lived in the States since 1955 and never been able
to follow up on it.

I WAS WONDERING IF YOU COULD HELP ME. IF NOT MAYBE YOU WOULD KNOW WHO I
COULD CONTACT IN MY AREA.
MY PARENTS OWN A HOME SINCE EARLY 1980, A FEW
YEARS LATER WE HAD A TENANT PASS AWAY ON THE FIRST FLOOR. IT IS A THREE
FAMILY HOME IN THE CITY OF ELIZABETH NEW JERSEY. NOT MANY STORIES AROUND
HERE OF THIS SORT OF THING. IF OTHERS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM CHANCES
ARE THEY ARE KEEPING TO THEMSELVES.
HOWEVER TO MAKE A VERY LONG STORY
SHORT. THE LADY DIED IN THE KITCHEN AND SINCE THEN THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW
OTHER FAMILIES MOVE IN HERE AND WE NEVER MENTIONED IT TO THEM UNTIL THEY
TOLD US THAT THERE CHILDREN WOULD SEE A LADY LYING ON THE KITCHEN
FLOOR
WITH THE STOVE ON AND THEY GOT INTO DETAL ON WHAT SHE WAS WEARING.
NOW THAT I AM MARRIED AND LIVE ON THE THIRD FLOOR WITH MY HUSBAND WHEN I
AM HOME AT NIGHT AND HE IS AT WORK I HAVE HAD WHEN THE
PHONE IS RINGING. OR I HAVE WOKEN TO DOORS SLAMMING OR HEARING PEOPLE
WALK IN THE CRAWL SPACE ABOVE ME WHERE THERE IS NO SPACE FOR A HUMAN TO
WALK.
MY CAT GOES CRAZY AFTER NINE AT NIGHT AND RUNS BACK IN FORTH AS HE
MEOWS LOUDLY AND MY HUSBAND HAS ALSO EXPERIANCED THE SAME THING AS A
MATTER OF FACT WE ALSO HAVE FELT THE HOUSE SHAKE EVEN WITH GUESTS IN THE
HOUSE. WE HAVE FOUND DISHES TURNED UPSIDE DOWN AND THE PHONE HAS RANG, WE
HEAR A VOICE AND THERE IS NOTHING LISTED ON THE CALLER ID.
WHAT DOES
THIS MEAN. COULD IT BE DANGEROUS TO US. I HAVE NOTICED HOWEVER IT HAS
GOTTON WORSE SINCE MY PARENTS DECIDED TO SELL THE HOUSE. IT IS NOW ON
THE MARKET AND THE PROBLEMS HAVE ALMOST DOUBLED.

Subject: My brothers ghost of Slack Lane Derby
My brother has a ghost since they decided to do a bit of gardening,
clearing some overgrown bushes. How it first came about was the children
started to wake up all hours of the night for no reason, and the youngest
child of 18 months kept pointing in the room and tried to say she saw
something.
The real proof came one day as my mum went to the bathroom
he appeared to her and ever since then he trys to communicate through her
mind trying to tell her if he's not happy about a certain bush in the
garden.
My mums not frightened but my sister in law is and she's
pregnant.
Please could you give me some information to try and get him to
pass on where he should be.
ANOTHER ghost story...
I read the book "Ghosts of Derby" a couple of months ago - and one
particular story made my blood run cold...
I was reading the passage regarding a young man's experience with some
sort of spirit, whilst passing by
Uttoxeter Road Cemetery. His version
almost exactly correlated to a story told to me by my partner about
three years ago.
My partner's version is as follows: he was walking down the path that runs behind the cemetery late one night. He began to get the feeling that "something" was above and behind him and he began to hear noises similar to bushes rustling and tin-cans rolling down the street. At the time he was living on Bedford Street, and he claims the entity followed him all the way home, but not into the house. He was not at all scared by the experience and was later told that this sort of "haunting" is attributed to the Pagan figure, Pan - a mischief maker.
My partner claims to have never heard of a similar story regarding the area and the mentioned book wasn't published until 1996 - two years after he related the tale to me.
I wondered if anyone else had ever had this experience, as the cemetery certainly seems to be a site of supernatural mayhem!
