I was unable to get permission to be inside the stadium for the official opening of Pride Park Stadium, so all I can provide you with are some photographs from outside.
| On Friday 18 July 1997, The Queen spent the day in Derby.
She visited The Royal School for the Deaf, the new Children's
Hospital and ofcourse Pride Park. Following these visits she went
to Hardwick Hall for a meal.
She is pictured (left) in her Rolls Royce arriving at The Royal School for the Deaf on Ashbourne Road. On the left is her chauffeur and right, her bodyguard.

The royal car nearing Pride Park Stadium. Lead by four police riding high powered motorcycles, and a policecar, the royal car sweeps down Pride Parkway towards the stadium. Inside await a capacity crowd of season ticket holders, parties of school children, local dignatories and other specially invited guests. The Queen spent around fifteen minutes at the stadium before travelling on to her next appointment at the Royal School for the Deaf on Ashbourne Road.
Now open for business. The new Rams Superstore has around four times the space it had previously, so shoppers have a much wider choice of products and much more room to browse.
