View looking across the pitch area towards the West Stand,

The first five roof beams are now in place on the West Stand.
In the foreground you can see the beginnings of the East Stand.
Once the East Stand starts to take shape it may be more difficult to
get photographs showing the progress of the constuction.
The first roof supports being fixed on the West Stand,

Sorry about the poor quality of this photograph, the sun was low and the sky was clear and I could not get a good vantage point. The photograph shows the two cranes hanging the first roof supports in position for the steel erectors to fix to the main steel stucture.
The North Stand structure is on the left, the main structure,
centre and right, is
the West Stand, which will house the main entrance to the
stadium.

this picture was taken on 14 January 1997, the day after Pride Park
Way was officially opened.
