Looking from the east towards the West Stand

Viewed from the Derwent Bridge, from the same position as the photograph taken in November 1996. The brown muddy site is now white with snow; sub-zero conditions prevail.
The steelwork on the left is the skeleton of the South Stand, and the structure of the West Stand can be seen extending to the right. The pictures below show them in more detail.

The West Stand structure being dwarfed by the Gas Holders, a much prized outlook in the eyes of Tony Hancock fans !

An oblique view of the North Stand, a better view will be available when the road linking Station Approach and the A52 is opened (13 Jan 97, I think).

The Rams Stadium Visitors Centre

Although it was a bitterly cold and grey day, there was a really warm welcome at the Rams Stadium Visitors Centre. After waiting in a queue for 25 minutes we arrived at the centre to watch a twelve minute video illustrating the reasons for the move from the Baseball Ground to the new stadium. The video is available at £5.00 as a Limited Edition with only 500 copies available. There is a mini Ramtique, some large display boards, and the Stadium's inaugural stone. Friendly staff are on hand for any questions about the club and facilities, past, present and future.

The Rams Stadium Visitors Centre
Booking using Virtual Reality

The highlight of the Visitors Centre, apart from seeing the stadium itself has to be the VR presentation of the finished stadium. The VR presentation has been prepared by CBL Technology of Derby and gives a very impressive view of the stadium and all the proposed facilities.

The VR setup will be used in the coming months for Rams fans to choose their seats in readiness for the coming games at the stadium. There are no upright roof supports to hamper the view from any of the 30,000 seats. There is the facility to increase the stadium capacity to 34,800 seats, all with an uninterupted view of the whole pitch.
