You are welcome to come along to any of our church services in Friary Street, and to visit our Reading Room in the Market Hall.

CHURCH SERVICES

A service is held every Sunday at 11:00 am. Nursery care is available for very young children, to allow parents to attend the service.
A Sunday School, also at 11:00 am. is provided for young people under twenty. Here pupils are taught the practical application of the Bible to every day living.
A Testimony Meeting is held every Wednesday at 7:30 pm. Experiences of God's healing power, love, guidance and protection are shared.

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE READING ROOM - MARKET HALL

Our Reading Room, which provides a book shop and reference library for public use, is open Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am. until 5:00 pm. The Bible and the Christian Science textbook - "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy - and other Christian Science literature are available for you to read and purchase.

HISTORY

  • 1907 - first Christian Science services in the Derby area, in Alvaston.
  • 1915 - first services held in Friary Street
  • 1937 - the present church building was erected
  • 1987 - new Sunday School building erected
  • 1997 - the church building acquired Grade II listed status
  • 1998 - public Reading Room moved to the Market Hall
